Defence Pro Ac (DPA): How you visualize the Armour market in the coming years? Which is the top selling armour product from the list?
MKU: The Armour Market in the coming years will see an overall increase, globally, as need for more protected, agile soldiers and platforms is fast becoming need of the hour. Top selling product varies on regional basis, however, Helmets and Body Armour, cumulatively, make for the top selling items from our inventory. In recent period we have started to see lot of traction in the Platform Armouring. All credit to Indian bourgeoning Defence requirements especially in Platform segments including various platform carriers for missiles and guns.
DPA: Please elaborate the company's current product profile specific to Indian defence and for international market?
MKU: MKU is currently in the field of Personal Protection and Light Weight Armour solutions for Land, Air and Sea platforms. Our products are made to custom requirements of the End Users. In addition, MKU offers complete in-house Testing Facility for Physical and Ballistic Testing. Personal Protection cater to Infantry, CAPFs, State Police Forces, Coast Guard, Paras and Special Forces.
MKU also has a joint venture with EIS Electronics Germany for manufacture of Electrical Cable Harness for the Aerospace Industry. The Joint Venture has been successful supply chain partner to the Airbus fraternity. In Indian market the JV has won several contracts including cable harness for platforms like AN 32, Sukhoi, Donier 228. EIS India is also gaining interest with DPSUs and Private OEMs for various Air and Land Platforms.
