The third attempt by Indian Navy in the last 14 years to build 12 mine countermeasure vessels (MCMVs) at the Goa Shipyard through the project, worth around $5billion, is once again on the go. Russian and Italy’s Intermarine shipyards responded to the expression of interest (EoI) issued on 21 March 2018. The Indian Navy needs at least 24 MCMVs to plug the anti-mine naval asset shortfall. China, on the other hand, has more than 100 MCMVs. Not known whether South Korea's Kangnam Corporation, Spain's Navantia, Germany's ThyssenKrupp responded to EOI.
